Please join us in my office as we participate in a monthly teleconference series, The Advisors Forum Presents Live CPE Series. This coming month the topic is: Set-Up in Basis Rules led by Robert S. Keebler, CPA, MST.
Currently, Section 1022 “carryover basis” is the law of the
land in the area of basis when it comes to assets transferring by cause of
death. These changes are scheduled to reset at the
end of the year, but the 2010 “basis gap” could be nonexistent if a patch is
implemented that reinstates the basis step-up rules that we know and love. Discussion will include the intricacies of both sides of the “basis gap” and how you can
help your clients through this uncertainty.
